Old St. Andrew's

SENIORS' PROGRAM

Welcoming All, Worshiping Christ, Witnessing God’s Love

Through Seniors Helping Seniors

Old St Andrew's Seniors (50 and older) sponsor programs that provide activities that help seniors in our Parish.  We are always looking and researching new programs to advance our services. We often meet the first Wednesday of every month for lunch at a different restaurant West Ashley.   We also have Potluck dinners throughout the year for fun and fellowship. Every Potluck dinner has a theme that enhances the season.

It is a very fun time for all.

SERVICES:

Canterbury House:  Gift bags full of needed toiletries, toothpaste, hair products, etc. plus Christmas projects for Canterbury East.   We are now in our Fifth successful year.

Meals on Wheels:  A non-profit community-based program designed specifically to meet the nutritional needs of seniors.  We collect various non-perishable food items that are delivered to homebound seniors.

Springfield Elementary School:  The Back to School Project Collects school supplies and backpacks for students up to Kindergarten through Fifth (5th ) grade, who otherwise would not have these much needed items.  We sponsor and promote new programs throughout the year to support over 700 students.

.

SENIOR MENTORING PROGRAM:

Springfield Elementary School:  Promotes a weekly Mentors Program for student as recommended by the teachers.  Seniors volunteer for a half hour to an hour per week to meet with an assigned child. The Mentor Program is highly rewarding and meaningful for the child and we always welcome more volunteers.

SENIOR'S SUNSHINE PROGRAM:

Our Sunshine Program is focused towards seniors who are ill or in poor health, in the Hospital or being cared for on an ongoing basis.  Our goal is to let them know we care and are concerned; we will send cards and greetings in addition to our prayers. You can help keep us informed by letting a member of our Committee know who is need.
